Title: Battery dremmel
Post by: ju571n on 31 January 2012, 09:18
Morning all.

Been looking at getting a dremmel/other brand rotary tool! Are the battery ones any good or just get a mains one!?

Maplins have a good kit of both. And there both about the same price, just that I have no mains in my garage. Just a noisy geny.

Thanks J

What sort of jobs are you hoping to do with he Dremel?

Ive got a mains one but to be honest I find it hasnt got the torque required for light metal polishing.

Ended up buying a mains die grinder and a flexi shaft, mucho improvment....

Nothing major, just a bit of cutting plastic, maybe a bit or cleaning, just handy for those awkward to reach areas.

So a battery one is probably a no go then..

Cheers dude.

Sadly no

Have a geny for my grinder, big drill, start charger etc. Everything else is battery powered!  :undecided:

If I need to do welding and the sorts I have to go do it in my back garden. My garage is across the road from my house.

some diamond tipped bits and discs is worth the extra

The mains ones dont have much oomph TBH. Whatever you do, dont buy a non-dremel one, they really DONT have any oomph!

I borrowed a battery one once. It convinced me enough to get a mains powered one. I now can't do without it - it's been invaluable working on my Midas - which has been standing 11 years...  :lipsrsealed:
