Title: Rad fan....!!
Post by: judderman on 12 April 2003, 21:31
Hi all......
I have a problem with my radiator fan on my Mk2 1800 golf  :(
After been driven and warmed up, and, then left to stand with engine running, the fan cut's in, and is very noisey.
Is this a common problem just wear and tear  ???

Cheer's  ;)

I've had to replace the one on my girlfriends Audi 80 due to it getting noisy.........I think the bearings were on their way out. Fortunately I had a spare.

The fact that GSF sell them must mean its not that uncommon for them to fail.

Mine did not work on my old 1300 mk2 got a second hand one for ?20 not bad.  Be prepared to get a new rad aswell.  When I took mine off the plastic on the rad was so brittle it snapped off in my hand, that was only ?50.
