Title: Starter motor squeal !!!

Ok for the 3rd time the starter is coming out tomorrow as I can't stand the sqeal any longer lol, what's the best grease to get as I'm not taking it out again after this time!!!!!

what you using at the moment? proper mechanical grease should be fine

ddont use vasaline or out

taking it youve used this thread to take it all apart and clean it up?

Yea done it twice now, copper grease first then normal bearing grease, after a couple of months it slowly comes back

Yep, ive done this too. TBH i think that it will only be a short fix due to wear, i suspect to totally eradicate you'll end up having to buy a new starter.  :sad:

mines been like it for 2and half years still working so best left alone for now will change when its fooked  :grin:

mine done it for 4 years, and still does. I hate that sound.  :angry:

have ya noticed tho at the most inconvienient place its takes the piss and does an extra loud and long one lol  :embarassed:

on my 3rd motor now! starting squeeling recently. only a little one though, my neighbours golf is alot worse :grin:

My golf doesn't do it - but our old polo did and it was bloody loud  :grin:
