Title: engine limits @ 5000rpm?
Post by: tortoise mike on 29 January 2012, 15:26
Hi guys, just purchased a mk3 20L 8v as a project car, the problem I am having is just as I reach 5000rpm it limits, if I turn the ignition off and restart the problem goes away, ( most of the time ) I have recently serviced the car thinking it was a dirty air filter or something, but has made no difference, so i'm now thinking some kind of sensor problem as it goes after a restart, thanks guys, any feedback would be appreciated, Mike.

Not entirely sure why it would be intermittent like that, bud usually it's an indication that your timing is slightly out. I'd get the timing checked as a first step though.
