Afternoon all,
just had two new tyres fitted yesterday, all fine though today a new message on the dash appeared, tyre pressure light. As I've been working I've not had time to do the obvious thing and check all the pressures but find it hard to believe when all tyres were checked and balanced yesterday that I have low pressure. Anyone know how senstive/reliable these warnings are?
I will check the pressures tomorrow anyhow..
Thanks

When you change tyres you should reset the tyre pressure monitor by presssing and holding the button.

Oh!! That's what that button is for, wicked thanks! :embarassed:

lol yep, what he said. Every day you learn something new ;)
However it won't do you any harm just to check them and make sure everything is ok (if anything for piece of mind, its what I would do).

especially as they probably just did the usual tyre fitters thing of everything gets inflated to 30 rather than looking up the true pressure...mine were out by 6...over a couple of hundred miles that'd be the corners wearing faster etc...

i seem to remember reading on one of these forums that the tyre pressure monitor is not as sensitive as you might think. cant remember the exact numbers but it only comes on when your tyre is seriously down on pressure (so +/- say 4 psi which is what you might get in normal day to day driving will not show). i think its more of a "looks like you got a flat!!" indicator
my rear break calliper jammed on the other day causing my rear alloy to get really really hot and my tyre pressure warning light came on - interesting the tyre pressure was fine.
Basically i wouldn't rely on it. Better to manually check your tyres every few weeks.

Funny this, I was reading the manual about this Tyre monitoring system. When you change tyres, change pressures or tow a trailer, you have to press and hold the button until you hear an audible noise. This indicates that the system is re-set. Something like that.

pressed the reset button and all sorted.
thanks
