How much is a gear box for a 1999 mk 4 gti 1.8 t?
-
Recon or second hand?
-
a new one from VW is about 3 grand.. but they'll give you roughly 800 quid back for your old knackered one, how kind!

there £2k and give you £700 back for your box, when down that road not so long ago.
only get a recon from a reputable gearbox company, my brother is on his 6th gearbox in less than 18months because of a certain well known VAG specialist

this is a good point. I had a mk3 recon box from a certain specialist I think was mentioned above. Reverse crunch had completely gone, but 1st to second crunch was worse. They did however do a nice and cheap looking black re-spray.
