Title: New gti owner
Post by: ALEX GTI ED30 on 27 January 2012, 16:22
Hi all,

I've wanted a mk5 GTI and/or an R32 for a very long time and always thought to myself that if I ever get either of them It would be an early GTI with over 60k on the clock, simply due to the amount I was willing, and able to spend on one. Not that a GTI this age and amount milleage is bad in any way at all.

After requesting to test drive a mk5 R32 and standrad mk5 GTI at my local VW dealorship they replied saying that they could only get in two GTI's for me to test drive in the short term. One was a DSG mk5 GTI edition 30 in the black and the other was a manual mk6 GTI in white.

After test driving both I fell in love with the ED30, it felt like a proper GTI. The extra horsepower over the mk6 was very noticeable especially as the ED30 had DSG. the ride felt more like a GTI, the steering, seating position, everything felt right. The MK6 was a great car, however it just felt like a golf that went a bit quicker than a normal golf, it just wasnt special...

So after years of waiting I went for it and purchased the Ed30!

It's a 2008 model, has 3doors, is Diamand black and has DSG, it also has all the extra bits and peices you get on the ED30 over a standard GTI, the Prescara alloys are a particular favoroute of mine.

I bought it from a VW dealorship so I have the peace of mind that it has been looked after and running well. It also came with two years worth of MOT's & servicing as well as a years extended warranty. They put four new tyres on it as well which was good of them.

Will post a pic when I know how too.
