It's the 1.6 16v engine.
It's doing my head in now.
Does anybody tell me where it's located PLEASE
-
it should be located near the grill being your front bumper I think
-
Sorry my bad ment the coolant temp sensor.
-
right hand side of the engine, you will see a plug going to a pipe, it's under there
-

cheers mate. what engine is that on? look completely diferant to mine.
-
a just googled bora engine images
-
comes off the thermostat housing on a 1.6 if i remember right. should be plainly visible to be honest, especially if you have the new sensor in your hand to compare.
-
ive got a 1.6 16v golf, im sure its the same engine, take off the top cover, its on the right hand side, mine was green and it has a c clip keeping it on. If you want me to take a pic let me know and i will take the cover off and show you.
-
ok nice1 i will have a look there tomorrow and if i cant find it i will post a pic up on mine aswell.
-
sweet dude, u got rid of the mk3 now?
-
yeah swapped it for the bora in my sig pic. everything is sweet on it apart from this bloody heater issue.
-
nice swap man, yeah mine went recently. stopped my car from starting after short journeys! did my head in, cost bout £35 from vw and a 5 min fix :)
-
im not having any trouble with mine like that. my temp stays at 90 spot on all the time. but have tried everything els to get my heater to blow hot air and thats the only thing ni havnt tried.
-
nightmare man, good luck with the fix!

Hi
The temperature sensor wont have anything to do with it, I feel. What exactly is the heater issue ?
-
as above, temp sensor has no effect on the heaters
if the water going in to the matrix is hot, most probable cause is a knackered flap motor on the blower housing behind the dash. vagcom will reveal more..

it has a flap motor?
on mine when i turn the heat dial i can feel and hear a diferance in blower power and i can hear the flap flap over. also it get a tiny bit warmer than cold when i put the heater on. is it not a cable as it feels like its cable operated.
-
if its manual heaters it will be cable operated yeah sorry, i get stuck in a GTI mindset
could be a blocked matrix then?

it cant be i had both pipes of earlyer and and blow water through it and water flow was fine.
-
that wont really test it, you need to check the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet hoses
edit: and sometimes that won't even work, if the core is full of gunk and the pressure has burst through the dividing wall in the end tank :undecided:
-
ah right didnt realise it could do that. how much is it to get a heater matrix changed these days? never had to do one before.
-
isn't cheap, whole dash needs to come out. It's not so bad as a DIY job though it just takes a long time
