Wasn't one of the reasons for you getting this car that it comes with a 3yr warranty?
If so be very careful because remaps can affect warranties.

Good point, are there any maps that you can revert to default for warranties?

Some, but I was chatting with a mate who works for VW earlier and he was saying that they have software which can detect if the ecu has been tampered with at all, thus voiding your warranty, Apparently its something that they're going to be clamping down on more and more :undecided:

they can access the flash counter thats all, which isn't affected (afaik) if it's done by bdm with the ECU out.. which i assume would need to be done for a 2012 model? Besides I've never heard of a warranty claim being rejected due to a remap.

Depends what the warranty claim is for really? And whether they can prove the power increase.
You might loose your map if VW do a software update on your ECU though, meaning you would have to get it flashed again
