Post by: chrismac89 on 26 January 2012, 11:20
am going to be putting a 16v engine in my golf but i have non power steering atm, is it possible to remove the power steering pump from a KR engine?
or would it be easier to just get hold of a PAS rack?
cheers

Make a list mate
pump
Alternator brackets
Pulleys
Belts
tensioner etc.
Best to take all off it from donor car, before you do it, or even spend some time looking for the right parts

the PAS may be run on a seperate belt/pulley from the alternator/water pump- going on what i remember from photos (ive got a non PAS 8v)

Are you wanting to run it without the power steering?

Yep, PAS belt is independant of Alternator, water pump etc.......... They run off a seperate and longer V belt.
