I thort these officers were highly trained!!!
I got 3 points for speeding on Sunday.
Officer: And what the hell do you call that
Me: Call what
Officer: I tell you what I call it, A fixed penalty Notice.
Me: "Thinking you thingy"
That guy was ticketing me regardless, Officers Cocknuckles and Dicklock in the car.
Ide expect a prison sentence for an accident like that, Reckless public endangerment. Dangerous driving, speeding, driving without due care etc.. etc...
Yes its funny to look at but i bet he gets his job back whilst being suspended on full pay. f**k the Police im sorry but its got to be said. Just a group of f**king cowboys running around playing cops and robbers. Actually good for solving nothing.

an investigation is under way after a £40,000 supercar loaned to police was written off while being taken for a test drive by an officer.
The top of the range Volkswagen Golf R, which has a 155mph top speed, was wrecked when the officer lost control on a roundabout, reducing the pristine vehicle to a crumpled heap.
The officer, in his 40s, had to be cut from the wreck by firefighters and suffered spinal injuries but has now been discharged from hospital.
He was driving on a public road, testing the handling of the car, which had been loaned to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) two days before so officers could try the model out before the force decided whether to buy or not.
Fortunately, the car, which can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 5.7 seconds, was insured.
The officer involved, who works in the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) intercept unit which patrols car crime hotspots, is now temporarily suspended from driving duties while an investigation is under way.
GMP said they would also now look again at using public roads to test drive cars. No other cars were involved in the crash.
A spokesman for the force said: "Shortly before 1.50am on Thursday December 15 2011, a police officer in an unmarked vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision on Wharfside Way, Old Trafford.
"The officer, from the ANPR Intercept Unit, was injured in the collision and he was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary having suffered a back injury. No members of the public were involved.
"As a result of this incident, Greater Manchester Police is currently reviewing its policy on officers test driving demonstration cars on public roads. That review is ongoing and it would not be appropriate to make any further comment."

I remember a few years back when a police officer was clocked doing well over 140mph in Shropshire in an unmarked car for no reason other than his own enjoyment.
He was suspended on full pay until he went to court to receive his punishment of "Don't do that again, there's a good chap. See you back at work first thing Monday"

I wonder if they'll buy one...

I wonder if they'll buy one...
I doubt it, it obviously fell off the road on its own accord, maybe a warranty issue.

Probably a DSG issue... surely a "professional" driver wouldn't crash such a car due to his own ineptitude.

It wouldn't have DSG mate, proper drivers only use manual.....

yes... the golf haldex can catch you out if you are not used to the way it works. this looks like a classic case of not following the golden rule!!!
slow in fast out
Trust me... it caught me out once and it really was a brown trail moment. I soon learned my lesson.

Surely it can't be the same car as the other one was only £33,000

There's a novelty, "Fortunately it was insured!!!!!!!!"
-
If they have taken out the GAP insurance they will get the full value of the car when new

Very true, I got caught out this morning. Had the car completely side ways going around a very big roundabout, I pulled onto the roundabout and floored, the car went sideways, it did feel like a rear wheel drive car and was about to go into a tank slapper. I just lifted off the gas and steered into it and luckily it corrected it self, but what a brown pants moment. Will not do that again. The R can be evil  I will take notice slow in fast out.

Good to here you got out of it tho....the first reaction is normally to brake but as you said....you've got to steer into it.
Good job!!

Good to hear you caught it!! Yes.. once you learn it, tis very rewarding to drive. Ultimately the golf is still quite a heavy car, so approach speed is quite important. You will always get the speed/traction you require on your way out
