It's a totally different drive in standard form between the two cars
The 130 is nippier off the line (just) but it will get absolutely trounced past 2500rpm as the larger engine and turbo just keeps pulling
Then you give it another 30bhp and you end up with a great all rounder  There's more to come from it but the DPF will need to go first

I was on about changing car not remapping it
surely the mk5 will be better than a mk4 just depends if u want a new car
-
I have done this, upgrade as I would put it & would not go back
My MK4 130 was quite stock so what I noticed
The Mk5 GT TDI 170 feels rock solid to the MK4, Shocks, Steering, ride is firmer I love it
Power the MK4 130 is nicer at 1500rpm pottering around, but over all power the mk5 170 is a feckin Rocket. I still have not put my foot down fully I love it.
Not a cheap upgrade though, oh check your insurance though as I did get told on the phone "thats a quick TDI" & I now pay £540 fully comp from £300 for the mk4

Re-read what I wrote

Thankfully VW got their act together and actually built a decent chassis for the MK5 / A3 platform  The MK4 chassis is terrible

Weird; the insurance on my Aldi is exactly the same as the Golf :undecided: Tax is a b!tch though as it just falls into the higher category!!
