i would consider an S3/R32 brake upgrade but don't know how it would affect my car with the XDS or hill hold assist so don't know if it would make swapping callipers an issue?
as an alternative does anyone know a good disc and pad upgrade using the standard callipers?
I'm used to the stopping power of my clio 197 on brembos which were epic. i find the GTI brakes quite poor in comparison so would like to beef them up a bit.
any suggestions

I think SteveP upgraded his when he had a mk6.

SteveP has had loads of different types, S3, Porsche to name a few.
From memory he really rated the Stoptech Big Brake Kit

Work your way through SteveP's project thread from page 1 it may also give you some other mods ideas too.

Lol, I was just looking at those too....
They seem very cheap to me.

I fitted these they are made by AP and the stopping power of the 6pots are awesome  and they work with all the electronic gismos on the gti, they have a nice progressive feel and not grabby at all
I also found that the Gti standard brakes were very poor, on track especially

No havn't tried the metal bush kit, iv'e seen that the Americans are pretty keen on it, it may improve the pedal feel but i cannot see how it makes them any better at stopping
Got mine from here not cheap at £1600+vat

Try DaveB on the mk5 forum he builds specific brake kits at a very good price

Ferodo DS2500 pads are supposed to make the standard calipers better. I for one am very disappointed with the GTI brakes, they lack feel and suffer from quite a lot of fade when pushed hard and that just on the road. I can imagine on the track they must be even worse.

My brakes totally failed 3 times on track, and i mean pedal hitting the carpet at 140mph a few brown trouser moments to say the least
Turned out to be a dodgy master cylinder, never happened on the road, but when they got hot i think the fluid must of been getting past the seals
Now the APs give you so much confidence in braking.

Have a look on here or PM DaveB for some ideas or recommendations

6pots are a little extreme to be honest unless your running 500bhp. But Alcon do a 4 and a 6 pot version
Money no object?
Its Alcon everytime
