Just soak it in WD40 and hit it with a big hammer. No need for a tool.

ive tried that, could only get it half off no further, even tried using hex keys ect as a spreader tool still unable to get it any further :\

Is the shaft stopping it from pulling down further?
Have you got the roll bar drop link off?
Could try loosening the shaft, but leave the nut on a few threads to make it a bit easier on re-assembly.
As per other thread, stick a big bar under and stand on it.
Id lend you a hand as im close to darlo, but my condition says otherwise at the minute :(

thats one thing i was thinking that there might be the driveshaft shaft or something stoping it lowering further, but in threads ive looked at on the internet theres been no mention of this so i just assumed it wasnt.
and ahh cheers anyway, hope your condition improves :) given up for the day, gonna go get drunk and forget the whole ordeal then try sort it tomorow before no doubt getting very annoyed

I always use a flat scewdriver bit on a small ratchet and turn 90 degrees. That comes in my socket set. Then hammer the strut off after soaking in WD.

small chisel worked for me
