Title: Car sometimes turns over but doesnt start...
Post by: the-rabster on 21 January 2012, 07:02
Hey guys, just looking for some advice. My AUM sometimes wont start, but will turn over. Its pretty random and usually it starts eventually but Im trying to get to the bottom of it...

I know that I need a thermostat as the temp reads low all the time unless sitting still and it creeps up to the 90degC. Ive already changed the temp sender so Im guessing the stat is stuck open.

Ive also recently just scanned the car for codes and got a lot of intermittent short to grounds especially in and around the injectors etc. Just wondering what you guys thought? I got the expected code come up for a faulyu temp sender or stat but also one about the crank/cam position?

What you think?

Fuel pump relay, and crankshaft position sensor possibly? Or maybe the injector loom?

Any help much appreciated!

could be starved of fuel maybe injecters or fuel filter may be worth new filter if it hasnt and try running some fuel injecter cleaner through  :undecided:

It'll be the crank position sensor.
This was happening on my AGU 1.8t and the fault code said crank/engine speed sensor.
I have since replaced this and all is fine.

Cool, I'll replace the crank position sensor first and see if that cures it. Ive already got a new fuel pump relay ordered aswell. Fingers crossed!
