Title: rear bearing woes
Post by: jimbo on 16 May 2005, 23:27
hi peeps

i have had an absolute beach of a problem. twas driving home last night and there was a funny squieling noise from the drivers rear wheel bearing.
though i might of got a puncture as it was a noise i hadnt heard before. when i had a look to day i found out it was a lot more serious.
the rear wheel bearing had binded up and smashhed two of the rooler pins and all of the bearing cage. this ment that the bearing was running dry and was getting fook off hot!
so when i tried to pull the hub off it was stuck! and i meen stuck! the hub spins but it wont come off the spigot.
i think the innner racre of the first bearing is heat shrunk on to the spigot. i have tried heating up the race and putting hub pullers on but it wont budge.
how oh how do i get this off?

big hammer and bash the sh!te out of it or drill it to smithereens cos you are gonna need a new hub pokey spigot thing anyway, or try undo the hub from behind somehow? dunno really....
