Hey, Just joined a few forums as recently purchased my lass a mk4 gti turbo and instantly fell in love with them. So im now after getting one myself but wanted to know which one is best to get once i sell or swap my A3. Ive had a couple of offers of swaps but again different mk4's. My audi is the 2002 1.8 non turbo engine so same as the mk4 golf equivalent so im after more power as before the audi ive owned and loved scoobys so missing the power. Am i better of goin for the 1,8 turbo with some tuning, or the v6 4motion? or make the swap to a gt tdi and remaping??? Any advice would be helpful and anthing i should avoid too.
Cheers everyone.

avoid the 2.0 mk4
1.8t mk4 all day  with performance mods and a remap

Without sounding thick, what sort of power are you looking at with a few of the easier mods and a remap? like i said ive been bang into scoobys so know what they are capable at different stages so whats the turbo 1.8 good for? 200ish??

with forge/awesome 007p diverter valve, pipercross fiter, 3"downpipe and de-cat and a remap i got 197bhp 224 torque
since had more mods done so wouldnt mind another go on a rolling road

depends what you want, the 1.8t is good for tunability, but the 4mo has the haldex system.
whats your budget? can you afford to spend £200 ish on a map. £150+ on exhaust system, + other mods, plus maintenence/ tax/ mot ect.
if it was my money ide be buying the 1.8t, if i had big money though ide proberbly buy a 4mo and try turbo charge it, however i doubt ide have that much

Well once ive got rid of mine ive prob got about 3 grand total, or swap for something around the same value as mine then about 600 quid for mods if they aint already done.

iirc.
2.0 non turbo is 115 BHP. AVOID!! very very slow.
1.8 Turbo is 150 BHP 5 speed box as standard.
1.8 Turbo Anniversary is 180 BHP 6 speed box as standard.

u can get late gti turbos with 180bhp an 6speed without splashing out on an anni for your budget

in that case you could get a good 1.8t and still have a grand or so to spend on mods if you wanted like remap, could easily get stage 2 map in that budget if you wanted to spend it all.

Ah nice one very tempted with the late turbo with stage 2 after reading that. Just got to find someone to swap of my the Audi then the fun can begin. Really appreciate the help everyone. Cheers
