Title: STOLEN: Black 5dr 1.6 Driver F930 FDT
Post by: rubjonny on 16 May 2005, 22:13: Car was stolen from Slough on Saturday, could anyone in the South keep an eye out for the alloys/exhaust/random bits being sold off :cry:

It was basically a bog std Driver with GTI interior & spoiler, Scorpion zaust and the alloy wheels that I hadn't got round to taking off yet! Had McGuard locking wheel bolts on so the the fekers will have a job getting em off at least.

Other distinguishing features: Now fitted with an early 7 slat GTI grill and the passenger wiper arm was missing (spindle has sheared off)

My guess is they thought it was a GTI, because the only obvious giveaways that its a driver is the cream headliner and lack of GTI badges! The only other way you could know is if you popped the bonnet or looked underneath and noticed the lack of ARBs.

I agree that it isn't worth much in parts, only things worth having are the full SS exhaust & alloys really!

3 lads in a nova turned up at work. 2 went straight into the shop. the other went straight around the back of my golf. obviously looking what badges were on the back. "is it a gti?" There are none on my car and I'm not sure if it technically is still a gti. ;)

sorry to hear of your misfortune. It may not have been a gti like many on the site, but I'm sure it had just as much sentimental value as all of our cars do to us!

Its not even my car anymore I sold it last week, but its still my first car and I'd have for it to end up cut to pieces in a scrapper :( The sh1tter is it still had my alloy wheels on it as I hadn't got round to taking them off yet!

GTI is slowly shaping up, but now it has a coolant leak and probably needs a new gearbox :cry:
