any 1 any hints on how to remove the top bolt on the turbo, i can get all the other ones loosened but just cant get a socket on this mofo, any help apreciated
-
Deep socket? Soak in WD40? Spanner?
-
cant get anything on it, the other bolts i had to hammer the socket on, 16mm im sure, tried to wedge it on but no room for moving, could i use a nut splitter or sumthing along those lines
-
Can you get it from under the car? Lots of extensions?
-
you mean the top one of three on the manifold? Wobble bar

What is a wobble bar?
-
spanners is how i do it mate put a ring spanner on the end of the nut then put a spanner on the end of the spanner to give you some extra lever lenth
thats how i do it and works a treat i undo it and then do it up real tight with a spanner on its own never have any problems doing it this way
-
use a spanner and it comes off fine.
make sure it is 16mm, if anyones had it off and changed it with a generic bolt then itll be a 17mm head, mine was
-
thnaks guys, will give it a bash once i get my other issue sorted lol
-
its fkn finally fkin off woo hoo lol

how you do it in the end?

guess what, cant get the f**k*r bk on right :( lol, was fine for ages now its blowing n i need to tighten this MOFO up.
cause of the twisted design of the downpipe i cant get a socket on it.
thinkin the only way is with a stubby spanner unless any1 else has any suggestions
-

re used the old 16mm nuts m8, could get to it with a stubby spanner for sure, just wondering if any1 has any tricks of the trade lol without having to melt a socket onto it
-
Use a spanner lol.
Some you can get with socket + lots of extensions from underneath,

cheers bud, wee stressful job for a sat mornin :) lol

I did mine at work so I had the use of my mates tool box which has about 6k worth of tools in it so it made everything a bit easier, even when I cross threaded one of the bolts :embarassed:
-
big praises for stubby spanners :), managed to get a few more turns on it and it sounds a lot better at idle, however its not fully tight as there is movement in the washer. may just have to change the nut,add a couple of washers, am i right in sayin its an M10

Little tip for you, get it up on axle stands then jack the turbo up gently, at least then you're just working the bolt in, not trying to lift everything up with the bolt
