I'm test driving a car tomorrow...
I've been looking at how much it costs for me and the Mrs to run her polo and my golf. Petrol, insurance and tax costs £410 per month. Wowzah!
So, we started looking at a new (joint) car on finance.
We're thinking of going for a 61 plate Polo 1.4 (non TSI) in candy white.
It comes in at 13,315 GBP
which is around £180 per month incl free insurance - so as you can see, much cheaper.
thoughts on this car?
We'd be using my 18T and her 6n2 as a deposit for which we should get £2800

Do you really need a brand new car? If you are worried about the monthly costs, go for a car 3 or so years old, which will cost less a month and you will save loads in terms of depreciation. I lost enough on my 08 plate car, let alone a brand new one.
Just food for thought.

Well, the no MOT for 3 years, warranty and free servicing with a new car would help.
And, we get a guaranteed value towards another car.. SCIROCCO  in 3 years.

True, yes. Do you have a balloon payment at the end in order to actually own the car? The cost of car ownership completely sucks b@lls doesn't it? Might start walking to work. 70 miles a day.

dunno nick, but you need to update ya siggy and details at the side <<<<<<<<<<<

I do like the polos, I'm driving a 61 plate as a hire car at the mo, haven't even checked out which engine it, but I assume its the very basic model, nice smooth drive and looks sweet I reckon

Get a pre-reg or, a 6 month to 1 year old car, if you still want a warranty.
You lose SO much buying a car new, I did it, and I'll never buy new again.

I'll be going for the Scirocco TSI after the finance is gone.
I've gone for new because it's rude not to.
We got a 16.5K car for 13.5K. We got loads of extras, and actually got the monthly payments down to £280 INCLUDING 1 years free insurance. Used worked out so much dearer.
