Hi everyone, I've just joined the forum as I have also just ordered my first golf gti! The edition 35! I currently drive a mk7 fiesta zetec s which I've had for three years. It's a great little car which I've modified to around 140bhp, but it's time for bigger better things, and as you can imagine this car is going to be a big change for me and I can't wait!
The spec list is as follows:
2.0 TSI DSG
Candy White
ACC
Touch screen sat nav
dynaudio pack
Cruise control
Front and rear parking sensors
Luxury pack
I've been told that that delivery time should be around 8 weeks! (http://:sad:)but those 8 weeks couldn't come any sooner.
Let me know what you guys think of the spec so far and if you think I've missed something out that I should have please let me know.
Also if anyone's got any pics of similar edition 35s could they upload them to this thread as I haven't seen many decent pictures of it.
Cheers
Ajay

Cheers for the welcome guys!!
Murrayedition35 - be sure to post some pics of your car when you get her! ;) did you go for White too?
And ginge35edition, very nice motor mate! Exactly what mine should look like! I was considering the 19" glen dales but your pic has decided it for me! Stunning!
-
nice choice of car.
keep an eye on your rear wheel well paint...
welcome and enjoy the car. 8 weeks isn't bad at all to wait compared to some... most wait 8 months!
-

I wouldn't have bought the Nav, I'd have saved £1,500 and got a refurbed one off the forums.

Cheers for the heads up mkviken. And thanks Steve your right 8 weeks isn't that bad. Just feels long because I'm so excited!!! Like a kid on Xmas eve! Haha
Also, I'm considering a milltek cat back for the car. I'm guessing I'd have to wait for them to design a new one as the ed35 has a different engine to the standard gti? Anyone know any further info on this? And would any ed35 owners suggest an exhaust ( Simply for noise) or do the standard exhausts already make a decent noise??
Cheers
-
Never went for the sat nav....as the better half always keeps me right....good job she's not here..
My 35 arrived in the UK and should be at the dealer this weekend  3 door black...can't wait.

I wouldn't bother with the exhaust, the standard note is very nice. If you're going to spend some money playing with it, get it remapped and then wait for the permanant grin.
I doubt the cat back would be much different from the 'standard' GTI version as with it being cat back I don't think the fact that it's the older engine matters.
I'm sure an expert will be along to correct me if I'm wrong though.

Sounds nice mate. I was stuck between White black or red. But I think the gtis look stunning in White!
Did u go for the 19s or keep the standard wheels??
And Jim, I'll take your word for it then! And save myself a few pennies to put towards a remap. Thinking a bluefin when that's released for ed35 as it can be removed easily iirc?

"kid a xmas" lol mate.....took the words right out of my mouth, I've been waiting since oct and I'm sure the days are getting longer....I thought there was only 24hrs in a day....seems to there's a lot more than that...anyway 8wks and counting, sounds better than 2mnths lol

I don't think you'll need to wait for the ED35 version to come out, as in theory its the same map as the ED30. Give Superchips (Bluefin) a call and they can tell you straight away.

Welcome dude that's a nice specked car :-) 8 weeks will fly by I was just under 9 months :-( just a GTD right enough
Chris

Steve, hang in there buddy I'm sure all that painful waiting will be worth it! Haha . Your right 8 weeks sounds better than 2 months lol!
And Jim cheers I didn't think of that. I'll give them a call

I drove a mate home from work yesterday who had a Miltek on his MK5 and he said he was really impressed with the note of the std exhaust, so i'd say stick with the std.

Taff_09 you're right the glendales do look good there, but tbh i like the 18s just as much. I'd rather save myself £600 and get a remap.

Waiting at a junction today and this ED35 pulls up alongside. Window comes down and this guys says; "Very nice car mate. Fancy going to a quiet spot together?"......
How could I refuse!
AJ-Edition35; Looks mean with the bigger 19" wheels. Mine's the standard GTI but I speccd the Watkins dark steels.

Mate, if some random guy asked me if i fancied going to a quiet spot i could refuse quite easily, haha! Great picture, the 19"s do look nice but I reckon a set of of TTRS would look better as the spoke is fuller IMO.

AWESOME! looking forward to seeing your beast on saturday, Ash!

the glendales look sublime  but its a subjective choice after all, the watkins are nice but not for me
£600 lotta monies so yeah could go towards something else nice

I'd be concerned that this 'quiet spot' would include duelling banjos or a snooker ball in your mouth...

Nah, nice impromptu meeting. Great cars. I'm yet to see another MK6 GTI/GTD on the road since I've had mine (4 weeks). I proffer the 18s to the Glendales but I love these cars, especially in white.
Detritus.

Nice shot! I been looking for another 35 but no luck. Saw a guy in a R and he revved his engine like he was tensing his muscles as he went past lol

Truckerash - thanks for posting that picture mate lovely cars!! I just finalised my order today, but I think I'll be contacting my dealer again tomorrow to change the spec to glendales!! They look amazing!!
-
glendales are a bit "showy" but really does make the car stand out

I think i must be the most indecisive person on the planet. Decided to stick with the Watkins Glens again now! haha. :undecided:
Just gunna go with my gut instinct and stick with them. Personally think they suit the car better!
On another subject; i spoke to superchips about using the ed30 bluefin on the ed35. They said it should work fine and have huge gains in power. They also offered me a free before and after dyno run to prove the gains. Will definitley be taking them up on that offer! :smug:

You'll be looking in the region of 300 BHP!!!!!

Depends if you have one of the new "secured" ECU or not. According to what I've heard it'll most likely have to come off.
-
Hmm.. The car hasn't been made yet so will most likely have a secure ecu then.
Looks like I won't be remapping it then as will have to be returned as standard after 3 years...

Id be tempted by those glendales, they look better in fact i think the 5 dr is a better looking car anyway and ive got a 3 dr with the glen watkins, the only thing that would put me off with the glendale is my age, im getting on towards 40 even tho the chicks tell me i look 30
-
You'd be happy to see these pictures if the car was yours, eh. Considering it has tradeplates in the window! Some salesman joy riding - happy days - not! Yes I am a grumpy b@@@@@d!

Remember though that your engine is the older engine and may have an older ECU too, think of your car at a newer ED30 and they can have almost anything done.
Again give the pros a call and they can tell you, I have no doubt that Superchips have mapped ED35's already.

Yeah I spoke to super chips and they reckon it should be compatable with ed30 software. They asked me to go up with the car first so they could take a look.
And trucker ash those glendales do look great but I'm going to stick with the Watkins glens!!

As you live in Southampton I'd save yourself a journey and pay a visit to JKM Performance in Portsmouth, they have a top notch dyno and a great reputation.
They also sell maps from REVO, Superchips and APR.

Yeah i was considering going to them, but wasn't sure how good they are. If you reckon they have a good rep then it will be much easier to go there you're right!
Wish i could say i'd attend the rolling road day, but its taking place before i even have the car! lol

Just been told that by my dealer that my ed35 will be arriving in the next 2 weeks! Around 2 weeks ahead of schedule!! beyond excited now!!!

Very nice!

Looks good....

Ain't it something, when it arrives, you do the paperwork and the guy leaves...
After x amount of weeks from ticking boxes on the Internet, thinking through what you desire, what's necessary, what's sensible etc. To have her there with the blade in your fingers...
Are you like me, just smiling ?
-
Looks good!
-
Cars look great & much better on the standard 18'' alloys. They would be my choice.
-
I wouldn't say no! I'd probably go for white next time.
-
So I had a bit of an issue with the car yesterday. Well I say bit, I should say huge!
I was driving along the m3 doing about 70ish and all of a sudden I had a warning message saying the gearbox was overheating. At which point the accelerator was giving me nothing. I managed to get onto the hard shoulder and let it cool for 20 mins and even still it wasn't working. I was putting it into d and all it was doing was revving to 4k and rolling back.
So i waited 2 hours by the road for it to be towed to my local dealer who are apparently starting work on it today. But even after those 2 hours it was still giving me nothing. Surely it wasn't a case of just cooling down then? Must need replacing.
Any ideas why this has happened though? I don't drive the car exceptionally hard on a day to day basis and after only having the car one year it's really not acceptable that a one year old car with only 11k milage would do this?
Cheers
