Title: CV joints
Post by: gizago on 18 January 2012, 19:54
My inner CV joint exploded on the way home from work the other day , which got me thinking- are there any direct replacements from the vag line up that would be stronger?? Would for example mk3 tdi cvs fit, or passat??

Cheers, Mat.

was it greased up fine? boot not slit/ cut in any way?

i had one from GSF which seemed very good quality and lasted until the car was off the road, not sure there is need to go to a different fitment!

Havent had the chance to look at it properly as it was dark when it happened, and is dark by the time I get in, but it was greased up, boot was fine, bolts all tight etc.

OE vw cv joint are plenty strong and long lived,  if you really needed to you can use larger ones but 100mm joints can handel a 300 bhp 20vt without problems

some of the pattern joints are crap tho
