Title: FAO Rtech, RR question
Post by: scarr89 on 18 January 2012, 17:21
Hi Rtech,

Have been looking forward to booking my car in for a remap for 6 odd months, built up the courage. My bro beat me to it, on his mk4 also, but you guys said you won't be able to do it as it won't make it onto the RR as it is lowered (B4 shocks and eibach sports springs, ~40mm drop).

Is this correct?!  :undecided:

Umm, my mk4 is also lowered, on H&R 40mm springs, I assume I will get the same answer if I call up?

Is there any way around this, perhaps remove my bumpers before mapping session? Also is this the case with every other mapping companies that use RR's? How will I get a remap?  :undecided:

Thanks, Si

I imagine it will fit, but it will be a push.

Reason being as the car sits right in the rollers allowing it to get traction, strapping it down pulls it down.

Got a pic of the height?

40mm drop is about the limit on our Bosch LPS dyno, the issue is the sump catching on the rollers.  We need to strap the car down in the dyno to get full traction, in some cases we can put tyres under the chassis rails to raise the body and engine then strap over the bottom arms.

Failing that we have another rolling road in the unit linked on to us next door which I can use, this will easy fit a Golf with a 65mm drop..lol

I'm not trying to take anything away from R-tech, but if your based in Lincolnshire then it would also be worth looking at Carbon Chip Tuning in Manchester. You will definitely get onto their rollers (we put much lower cars on it on both RR days), and I have one of their maps on my car and it's awesome

I'v had my eye on a Rtech map for a while now TBH. Yes both have great reviews and I'm sure Carbons map would suffice plus more however I drive past Rtech on my way home at weekend see

Thanks anyway...just make sure Nick doesn't read this

If its on coilovers then raise it prior to coming down then you know its going to fit, and we dont have to spend 40mins for the mapping session trying to make a car fit, its best to have all the time tuning and logging.   In the past we have spent 3+hours trying to wind up coil overs, which is hard on a 4 post remap, due to the amout of time we lose we refuse to alter ride height.

Glad I read this when I finally get mine mapped bette adjust coilovers up first as at the min it's a lot lower than 40mm ! Cheers
