Well I just had my first accident ever. Only damage was to the car although I did feel some minor neck pains which is fine now. Before this I have not even had a scratch on any car. I was waiting at the lights due to a red light and about 20 sec later while still waiting for a green light my GTI got hit in the rear. So annoying. I do love my GTI and have been treating it well and now this.
-
Ugh! Sorry to hear this, gutted mate. Is there much damage?
-
Yeah, had same thing. Sorry to hear it - All my damage was to the tailgate and bumper skin, strangely bumper stiffner undamaged.
Annoyingly when repaired, they put the wrong edition tailgate on, so i have issues with the bumpstops, and the colour is somewhat off...
-
Sorry to hear about your bump. Never nice.
And Belix, sorry to hear that you didn't get a satisfactory repair. If it had been me I would have kept pressing until the colour was matched. You have insured your edition of car so you are entitled to have it repaired with the correctly fitting parts. On top of that a correct colour match is also part of your entitlement. I don't know how long ago it was as to whether you can get it re-repaired or whether it's just the way it is now.

and because some dopey git went into the back of you and its not your fault, then you will find your insurance will more than likely go up as a result, although its a non fault claim, insurers eh!!
although you may find you get a payout for neck injury/whiplash if you go down that road, as all the insurers try and get you to sign up for them to win your claim etc etc..
god i'm cynical today!

What a crying shame. Going from the photos you've posted up yours was one of the best looked after and tastefully modified GTIs out there.

Really sorry to hear about that buddy . I hope it gets repaired to your satisfaction.
I had a strange old day driving about in town yesterday. I nearly had two or three bloody accidents. None of which would have been my fault (I think). There are some stupid people out there and no more frigging stupid than the R32 driver who nearly took the front end of my car off by suddenley swerving into my lane off a roundabout in Wandsworth. It gave me a good chance to test the anti-lock brakes I guess (and my pants). Yesterday was one of those days when I was just glad to get home with the car in one piece.

yes my gti insurance went up £50 due to someone knocking me off my bike and admitting fault, police and witnesses agreeing i was no fault, insurance agreeing i was no fault but my premium still went up. what a jip.
-
Sorry to hear about your accent mate, my mate had a similar thing happen to his audi over the holidays and was absolutely gutted.
-
yep insurance is a jip!
the fact that you were involved in an accident irrespective of fault means you are now more likely to be involved in an accident and are a greater risk for insurance, hence your premiums go up, my missus wen tup £100 and it was some dope reversing his car into it whilst her car was parked, if id known that what would happen i would given him a hard time!!
-
Sorry to hear about your accident, the main thing of course is that you are ok.
Slightly off topic but re insurance, last year I picked up 3 penalty points but when I insured the beast just after Christmas managed to get insured for £50 less than last year even though I was told that the points would add at lleast £50, so all in all I was quite chuffed and the moral of this tale is that I DO NOT speed anymore.
All the best to you and hope your repairs are done to your satisfaction.

Thanks guys.
I got the car checked and the dealer said the only damage was on the rear bumper and a cracked licence plate. The diffusor was fine. The dealer is going to replace it with a new one which is good news to me. I'd rather have it replaced then repaired. I'll just have to check thoroughly that the paint matches my car perfectly when they change it. Hopefully my car will be whole again on the 28th february. :)
