Hello All,
Having just passed the 15,000km mark since new, my bond with the little GTI grows stronger and stronger.
A few months ago I had the Revo Stage 1 upgrade which made a big difference to overall performance. Now I'm yearning for more power and considering jumping to Stage 2.
Is there a big difference in performance between Stage 1 vs. Stage 2?
How will this play on warranty? Flashing back to original from stage 1 is a simple procedure, 2 should be more complex? (I have more than 2 years warranty left on the car).
Look forward to your comments.
Cheers

i had a look into this and the stage 2 map isn't any different to stage 1 on the mk6 GTI, apart from it doesn't give an emissions warning light when you fit a down pipe and de-cat or sport cat.
i was advised i could fit a decat or sport cat down pipe and run a stage 1 map and the only difference would be i may get the emissions light up a couple of times.

Stage 2 gives alot more midrange shove.
And to some it up, Stage 2 would come past a stage 1 in exactly the same manor as a as your stage 1 would over a standard GTI,
Considerably faster and well worth the money
-
Big intercooler is bound to make a difference in the heat out there, what's the emissions regs out there? Could you run with a de-cat? That, with an intake and intercooler plus stg2 is going to be seriously quick.

It depends on what you consider stage 2 to be.
If you are talking about upgrading the exhaust and the air intake then you're looking at a bit more power but not that much.

This is a bit exaggerated. An exhaust system will give an increase of about 15hp tops and a good intake will realistically give about 7hp. That adds up to 22hp theoretically speaking over a standard car. A remap alone can push an extra 50hp out of an otherwise stock motor.
Realistically, a good stage 1 map will give you around 260-270hp. If you add on the exhaust and intake upgrades then around 290 is to be expected. In fact I think KennyGTI on here got results around this figure on his stage 2. I can't remember if he was with Revo at the time.
If you are including a FMIC into the mix then you will get more consistent power but not necessarily more.
Have a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N715_Ux2Nao
The Stage 2 is marginally quicker but, IMO, in terms of sheer performance it's not quite the bang for buck of just going stage 1. Although it does alter the sound so for some that's an added factor.

Also forgot to add, warranty wise it's the same case as going stage 1 in the first place. If you have a garage that's going to kick up a fuss about a remap then walking in with a modified exhaust and air intake is not going to go down well. If your dealer doesn't mind about a remap then they likely won't be too bothered about an upgraded exhaust or intake either.
And if you're wondering about taking the exhaust on and off every time your car goes in... well I wouldn't bother really. For the hassle stage 1 is fast enough.

Not sure your setup, But I was running straight though exhaust with decat, Intake with cold air vent leading straight to the intake, THS revo edition Intercooler, std fuel pump plugs etc... And my car would have absolutely thrashed the pants of a Stage 1 remap'd GTI.
This is fact mate.....
Also: that video isn't really stage 2, No intercooler and only a downpipe running minimum settings possible for stage 2,

He stage two, you completely notice the difference! Much strong through the mid range right to the red line. I'll have a look for my rolling roads results of stage 1 vs stage 2 with same hardware mods, carbonio intake, blueflame turbo back exhaust and forge twintercooler.

Stage one was 283bhp and stage two made 298 bhp. Biggest gap between the two was at 4000 revs was about 28bhp.

Stage 2 isn't about BHP with Stage 2 comes all the torque stage 1 lacked :) Bet if you had the dyno the gap would be big
-
Very true! Can remember the guy pointing out the torque increase, will have a look again at my results
-
where your gaining with stage 2 is because of the down pipe and decat/sport cat.
the map is no different in terms of fuelling, just stops the warning light as i said earlier.
i was thinking about going stage 2 when i bought my milltek and jkm and superchips told me to save my money and keep the stage 1 map if i didn't mind a warning light every now and again as they're more or less the same
-
I'm not disputing that stage 2 is quicker, just pointing out that it's a marginal increase for a lot of expenditure.
And I've been up against stage 2's. There really isn't that much in it to be honest. That's why I decided to never go for it.

Thank you for all your comments, interesting view points.
The Stage 2 upgrade would include the following -
Forge Intercooler
ATP downpipe
Forge Blow Off Valve
Quaife Diff (they are quoting 1700 GBP to purchase and fit the Quaife - ??)
-
can't get a BOV for the 2.0 TSI yet and you won't gain anything from it anyway.
stage 2 is pretty much a turbo back exhaust, map and filter (panel filter or new intake)
the intercooler would be a nice addition too

My guess is he is referring to the Spacer Valve :undecided: If so then it's a sound only gimmick and does nothing to increase the performance or protect your engine. I had one for a bit but decided in the end that it didn't suite the character of the car and sold it on. Was a doddle to fit though
