Title: The 37 year old virgin
Post by: Philip James on 17 January 2012, 00:11
Hello from another Newbie!

I'm currently looking for a Mk5 GTI. It'll be my first GTI - can't wait to pop my cherry! I've never even driven one yet - I'm sure you experienced owners remember your first drive?

Anyway I'd appreciate it if anyone can advise me-I'm looking at some leggy 90-100k milers from 2006-07. However I'm a bit worried that high milers (even with FSH) may give me a load of bother? Should I stop going out for a while and spend an extra grand or 2 for a 30-40k mile car??
Also-is it easy to tell if a car's been thrashed - any telltale signs? I'll be trawling the local car lots shortly...

And finally - what's the best colour? And should I buy a 3 door (head says 5 doors)??

Many thanks from PJ

HI I wouldn't be to bothered about a 06-07 gti  with 100,000 on the clock as long as it has full service history, best colour is White and it depends weather you have a family or not the 3dr looks better but the 5dr is more practical just find the best deal and test drive a few
