Title: Netflix
Post by: Kerrse on 16 January 2012, 20:59
Anyone using this? Just signed up & seems pretty good, now got it on my iPad,iPhone & my apple tv. The apple tv version is good as you don't have to have your computer or iPad running to use it.

Really how odd,  does it appear in your internet menu on your apple tv ? I added mine on my ipad first & registered but then also added it via itunes for my iphone then rebooted my apple tv & it was there in the internet menu just entered my log in details & i was away. It's a month by month contract you can cancel it quite easily.

I've got it on my xbox and the app is great, just the poor selection so I won't be continuing with the paid for service. Lovefilm is a rip off, "unlimited streaming" my arse. Any newer films you've got to pay extra for so it shouldn't be labelled unlimited

Same here. Amount of content is crap. Any TV shows that I may be interested in watching on it only have a couple of series too. I won't be renewing after my free month.

Is this worth ditching Sky Movies for though?

I.E. Sky seem pretty good with blockbusters coming out, but obviously you either have to pay about £4 a film or wait for them to show up on premier, which isn't too long after. However, for a movies package it is about another £20-30 a month more iirc.

Paying £5-6 a month for a lovefilm/netflix deal seems a win win. Is this the case though?

Views and opinions please.

Lovefilm charge for the latest releases (on their "unlimited streaming only option but we like to pretend it is unlimited when it's not really" for £5 a month), not all of the latest releases are available for streaming either and you may have to wait for the DVD/BR to come  through the post if you go for the most expensive package that includes streaming and discs.

Netflix don't have the latest releases, even at additional cost like Lovefilm and in the UK they don't have the postal disc service and won't be having it either as they want out of that game completely.

Sign up for the free trials they have and see which you prefer is the only sensible option here. I'll be waiting for the content to get better before paying for either service.

I started using it properly last night there is quite a lot of things i want to watch in there, maybe not brand new stuff but plenty of stuff i haven't seen.I haven't bothered with lovefilm as i get a lot of films anyway but it really all depends how much time you waste sitting in front of the tv lol

Netflix is £6.99
Lovefilm £4.99

I upgraded my Lovefilm so that I could have unlimited online streaming and to be honest I'm utterly disappointed.  They have absolutely no good films to stream at all, it's a disgrace!  Have been thinking about moving to Netflix instead, but don't know all that much about them.

Same on the Xbox too, all I have done is change the DNS settings and now I have lots of new films and shows to watch on my American Netflix :D

Really I think iTunes film rentals are a rip off never bother with them. I get films anyway so just use Netflix the same as I would if I bought box sets to watch, I have watched some films on there to but mainly box sets.
