I am new to the vw world, i have a mk4 1.8 gti and it has a stainless steel back box on it at the mo which is quite loud, which in itself is fine but the car keeps wanting to stall all the time, when its not being reved, pls can anyone suggest what i should do or should i replace it?, if so what can i replace it with? thanks in advance

exhaust wont be causing it to stall
run a faultcode reader for faults

also worth throttle bodie clean

also check boost pipes for splits and leaks, could also be a faulty maf

As you're in Cardiff go to ProSpeed - you won't find a better quality exhaust system

milltek ?

milltek ?
Why waste his money?
Nick @ R-Tech will vouch for the quality of the system on my Golf
-
pro speed are good and milltek seem to be not so good lately quite a few ppl returning them with bad welds etc
-
as suggested try cleaning the throttle body, also coolant temp sensor used to cause stalling at idle when it went on mine.
-
Unplug the maf and see if it runs better.

I got a quote of £600 for an exhaust from pro speed!!! But will admit the quality is top.
