Hey all
Well my monza 2 shadow quest continues....I emailed a vw dealer asking for a price, and he's replied saying is...
Good morning,
"monza 2 alloys" ?? We will require the chassis number of your
vehicle to look up the correct wheel as recommended by Volkswagen, then
quote you the retail price. Tyres are dealt with by our service department.
Regards ian..
Well firstly it's going to be quite hard obtaining this cus the vehicle isn't even built yet and or so the wheels are for a gtd so shorely as soon as he knows there for a gtd won't he just say there not compatible...
Advice with this would be much appreciated....thanks
-
I had this problem last week..... seems my friendly local VW garage haven't got a clue.
If you find out the part number for the Monza Shadow wheel that would be the best way forward.
-
Does anyone know the part number? Thanks
-
Part Number is 1KO 601 025 BA FZZ and total cost for four from VW £1989 inc VAT
-
Its a polite way of the dealer saying stick with the Charleston Shadows

Yes they are called detroits on the dealers system. Just give them the part number.
-
Ah....thanks, yep I've past one part no....
-
Detroits are the ALL BLACK Monza style wheels no?
Sorry if I've confused you even more

Yep confused even more.....the ones I'm after have the black inserts, do you know what they might be called on the vw system? (the ones that come as a optional extra on the gti)
-
Just get the registration number from a GTI that has them on at the dealers, then the parts department will be able to find the factory supplied wheels for that car.
-
Right...I've had two dealers return with quotes...The best deal is below!
Retail price £508.55 each
After discount which inc vat £385.50 each x 4 total price £1542... This sounds like quite a discount but of course doesn't include tyres.
What do people think?
-
I think you're mad
I'd but a 2nd hand set of MK5 Monza's and get them refurbed as per the MK6 wheels :afro:
-
you could buy a genuine set of BBS CH's for less than that... justsayin :lipsrsealed:

Thanks for all the suggestions....

On VW's system the monza shadows are listed as Detroits, Part Number is 1KO 601 025 BA FZZ, polished face with black inserts.
-
When I ordered mine I asked if I could have the Monza Shadow wheels they said no you can only have the wheels specified for that model. I've got used to my Seattle Shadows now so they are so bad.
Does anyone know the part number? Thanks
If anyone wants to find there own part numbers PM me?

I don't know why you'd not want these on a GTD.

IMHO, if you have a GTD, have GTD wheels, if you want Monzas (which are gorgeous none the less), get a GTI from the start.

^^^^^ I totally agree with this. It really annoys me when I see (for example) a GTD with GTi wheels on it or a GTi with 'R' wheels on it. WTF, all your really saying is that you really wanted a GTi or an 'R' but couldn't afford it!!!
Would anyone put bluemotion rims on a GTi??
-
Yeah, remapping your car, who does that? I mean honestly, if you want 300bhp go and buy a car with it already.

Exactly!

Ah, remapping is different, just like adding aftermarket wheels/body pieces etc. A remap is taking the engine from OEM to something else. Thats ok; you're not trying to make the car like another in the range (I know you can remap a GTI to something like ED35 or R etc).
To go completely against my argument; It's your car. If you want to do it, then do it.

If it was souly up to me then I would have the charlestons in a heart beet BUT it's not...the gtd is a car I will be sharing with the mrs and she's not so keen on the charlestons but loves the monza's so that's why I'm after the monza's....besides charlestons are harder to find! A set was sold just the other day on ebay but sadly I didnt notice till it was to late.....its absolutely nothing to do with wanting to look like a gti....and as you say if I wanted a gti then I would have bought one from the beginning....
Thanks for all the comments and know how.........

I understand now. In which case the solution is simple. Don't change your mind on the wheels... change the missus. Ultimately that must be cheaper in the long run anyway?

+ You'd be safer will some steel wheels with plastic hubcaps if your thinking of letting your Mrs drive it
-
Patiently wait for a set to come up for sale, I waited months.......but finally found new set.

 yeah I definitely would be better off getting steals really, as it is she curbed a set when she was pregnant with our little one....
I would wait if I could....but once I've got something in me head that I want.....I have to have it now!!! I'm so inpatient that way...

Has anyone had any dealings with these people..?

there's quite a markup on alloys that's not a bad discount. I'm getting one at cost for someone so know the deal above is quote good for a public sale

glad your sorted guess have you tried people like mytyres and black circle
-
Will give them a try...thanks
-
For tyres, many local independant dealers will match online prices in order to get a sale. They are also more likely to take more care of your wheels as they will be making more money from you, rather than a few quid a wheel just for fitting.

Just sent a emails to vw and me old Suzuki dealer to see what they say....cheers
