Title: Lighter clutch pedal ?
Post by: lee on 25 April 2003, 18:24
:-/Hello

The clutch pedal on my mk2 16v is quite heavy. Does anyone know if it would get lighter with a new genuine vw clutch cable. The cable on the car is 14 years old.

Cheers.

I had the same problem, changed the cable and this helped alot but the clutch on golfs are quite heavy anyway.  It only got alot better when I got a new clutch

The clutches are strong and just get tightened rather than replaced.  Mine is quite light (mk2 16v) but I guess quite new.  Either buy lead boots or budget for a new one...

Personally, i think you ought to get into training :-) 16v's with their heavy clutch aren't for girls....

To be honest though, I remember being caught in a big long stop start jam in London several years ago and held the clutch most of the way.

After 4 hours i was in so much pain you can't imagine. And I swore alot.

You have my sympathies.

Regards,
Justin

The crap heavy clutch is p***ing my pregnant girlfriend off, she has to sit in 50 mins of traffic every morning !

Will look into getting it changed for the poor cow.
