Hi everybody!!!!
Been meaning to start a thread for a while...
Some pics of how it is at the moment.

The gti splitter is only temporary but means i just about get up the drive without having to get out the car and take it off everynight (like the VR6 one does...)
Ammediate plans are to prepare for a respray, going to get rid of the rear spolier and aerials on the roof. I've got a vento front end in the garage whish is bright red at the moment but i'm going to start getting that done over the next few weeks.
Want to change the wheels too, not made up my mind yet but maybe something like this...

Inside I quite fancy one of them stupidly small momo steering wheels, maybe recaro front seats, and bits need doing like the headlining...
I'll update as I progress, thanks for looking...
-
Loving this! You have got her sitting really nice! What are the alloys and the sizes/ tyre sizes your running? The Vento front end will smash it :) what grill have you got lined up?

Wheels are corvette salad shooters.
Rear: 16 x 9.5 / 30mm adapter/spacer
Front: 16 x 8.5 / 25mm adapter/spacer
Tyres are Falken 195/40/16 (front) 215/35/16 (rear)
-

I must agree, they look spot on as they are :) I look forward to more updates!

Looking very sweet. Why change it?
-
So when are you getting the Vento front end sprayed and fitted?
-
Vento front hopefully in the next couple of weeks, will be a DIY job to start with. Got some laquer peel on the roof and other bits and bobs that need respraying so will get it all done at once
-
Still no engine bay pics...
-
Lovin the vets.
-
Still no engine bay pics...
Ha!!! I'll take some the next time I see daylight. Nothing special under there though and a bit grimey...one of the ever growing list of things to do
-
Yeah mate! Loving it!!!
-
Managed to get the vento front end done today. Used Satin black for now, does'nt look great, but got a ton of other bits to sort out before respray and thought would get them all done at once...

-
sh!t, thats two assum looking mk3s I have seen today. And I hate the friggin things. Having said that both had vento front ends, perhaps there is somthing in that?
-
Good work dude! If only you could run it with the bonnet off, the VR lump looks lovely! And you know its all about the early grills ;)
-
Very nice Mate :afro:
really like vento fronted 3's
and keep the vettes, they sit damn near perfect

-
Thanks for the comments everybody...some real good inspiration on this forum, thanks!!!!
So joey mod, leave alone or lightly smoke the front headlights? I'm thinking lightly smoke but the joey mod thing is growing on me...also indicators, blanks and fogs. Smoke the fogs out to match the rest or change the whole lot to orange?
Cheers
-
Joey and light smoke.
-
Vote no.2 on the joey mod & light smoke
Osram night breakers work well through the lamin-x

Hello all,
Been a while, so thought I would put some picks up of progress (slow)...
So.....started doing a few bits and bobs, then took the Golf off the road and got stuck in...
Then it sat for a while when 'other stuff' was more important...Then...
Spent the last few months getting back into it (with a lot of help from a couple of people...)

Good work buddy. Look forward to swing it complete ;)
-
Looking good, are you relocating anything from the bay or having it as standard?
-
Pretty standard really mate, battery is being re-located and hopefully hide as much wiring as possible. Apart from that, just new clean bits...not really going for the full on smooth look, more a good old clean up...
-
gotta lot of love for it mate, looking good
-
Nice one...thanks

Should be pretty cool when it's done, sometimes it has felt like it might never happen, but over the hill and on the way down now I think...!

-
Great car, looked great from the first pic and going to be even greater, have to agree about the wheels, you don;t see them very often on a mk3 either. Can;t wait to see the end result.
-
Thanks Leroy...
I'm toying with the idea of colour coding the wheels with the body...not sure yet
Bit of colour...

Chassis legs look sweet man, can't wait to see more pics :)

Really like the colour you've chosen.
-
Cheers...it looks a bit lighter in the photo's than in the flesh. It seems to look darker when it's outside in natural light...which is cool

Headlights were a bit of an experiment...think I will be taking the tint off...not really my style!!
-
Car is looking great man, i reckon gunsmoke would be better for the headlights though.
-
Bonjour Thai... It's spray tint mate so I can flat and polish it back more...
It actually looks darker in the pics than in real life...only problem is...the more you rub it back, it starts to look a bit brown :(
-
Poo smudge FTW!

Are you going to change the side indicators for smoked ones?
-
Not sure yet Swainy, I put the front orange indicators back on today so the side ones don't look so odd!!

That engine is looking sweet man! I spy a cheeky hockey puck mod there as well! How many pucks have you used over all?
-
Ha!!! 3 pucks mate, one on each mount...
-
To raise the engine for more sump clearance I assume?
-
You assume correct Mr Wronghorse
-
Nice :) did you have to modify the underside of the bonnet for clearance?
-
No mate, there is still a tiny bit of room under there, it's a pretty simple mod and does the trick...
3 pucks, drill holes in the middle, lift the engine, slide them in, use slightly longer bolts... Job done!!
-
Yeah, I have the pucks and bolts, it's in the long list of things to do :)
-
All golf owners have a long list
-
Quick update...few bits and bobs done...should hopefully be ready for Santa Pod on 13th October.
