thought I would do a thread for the car, will get some pics of it
spec as follows
p reg
white
black roof
roof bars
194k miles
lowered
slow as feck!
but at £300 can't complain and it's good on fuel
EDIT: upgraded to a gti 2.0 8v

decided to vinyl wrap the mirrors white as a friend does vinyl wrapping, also fitted a cd player, will be seeing if the steelies that came with it look good, then giving it a clean and vinyl wrap the back bumper where paint is missing, may consider chopping the back springs to get it lower as it's 60mm front 40mm back

As a Golf3 TDI owner I feel I can look down on you.
And it's lowered, so I actually can.
Sorry about your engine.

It's not that you're getting old, it's that it won't pass an MOT that's the issue.

Cheap and Cheerful. FTW!
My First Golf had chopped springs.
Well...after upgrading the engine to The Mighty 1.3 Carb we (decided by committee majority vote) should lower it by cutting the springs with an angle grinder. Fair play...it looked ossum!
My mate decided that this was after all "a bad idea" after following me down the M4.
Bouncy, bouncy 'bout sums it up.
Still. I was 18 and Power Tools were new and exciting!
Today it resides in my garage awaiting a Steve Austin moment.

I think you're more likely to give it a Ron Burgandy moment.

nope, im 19 and feel the same way. either get proper lowering spring/shocks or leave it as it is mate, i know a few people with cut springs and can safely say a cheep set of loweing springs gives alot better ride even if just on standard shocks.
-
it has lowering springs, I have come to the conclusion, the next car is a mk3 gti, it is nice to drive and does pull (down hill), and grips in the ice, although used an 1/8 of a tank in 10 miles from trying to see how it handles  plus i feel like a dad driving it haha
-
Dan had it sorted.
Dh ur right, but I feal once upon a time I would have been for cutting springs.

Rustastic!

looked over the exhaust today, turns out from the midbox it's completely snapped off  does sound pretty cool, drove birmingham earlier to pick an exhaust for a friend, drove down a narrow road and set off a few car alarms, also come next weekend it is going lower on the back so it just sits on the arches, just need more power (if anyone knows any info on how easy it is to drop a tdi engine into it please message me, would be of great help!)

Fill it up and give us a brim-to-brim (proper!) MPG figure.
Come on - MPG-off with my TDI

Well 20 pound has just got me 100 mile, so I don't think I'd win, plus I don't have around £80 odd to fill it, most of my miles are around town so pretty poor on fuel
-
The derv has gone, hello mk3 gti 8v

Didn't last very long!
