Afternoon all,
Thinking of replacing my mk3 with a 55 plate 60k 1.9 s tdi that i looked at today.
Got a few questions for you guys if you wouldn't mind helping :
It's had the dual mass flywheel and clutch replaced by vw a year or so back at 40k , is this likely to go again soon? Eg is 40 k normal life
It's also had a replacement heater and new break pads.
It hasn't had a cambelt change as book says 80k so I'm guessing I should get this done if purchased ( what's a usual price 350 ish?).
Anything else I should look for? It's got full vw history, oil level was fine.
Lastly I'm a non smoker and it smells a bit of smoke, any idea how easy it would be to get the smell out?
Thanks for any help.
Cheers
Barney

40K is a very poor mileage for the clutch and DMF to have needed replacement; I dread to think how the previous owner has treated it.....
Yes the cambelt should be done every 60K or 4 / 5 years so for piece of mind I'd get that done
Check out the Detailing section of the forum for recommendations of products etc which will get rid of the smell
Can your budget stretch to a 2.0TDI as that would be my choice

Thanks for the fast reply. The previous owner is a colleague from work, obviously I can't comment on her driving however I'm confident in having all the good and bad points about the car that she knows.
I would prefer a gt tdi however my budget won't quite stretch that far and I believe this car to quite a good price.
