I'm almost crying. would be if it was mine

-
looked like they were more concerned about filming the turbo on fire than putting the thing out. if that was me I'd be out like a shot caking it with my little extiguisher
-
omfg!!!!!
that is so bad, feel sorry for the owner, and it was a fit ride too!
my bruva and his gf cant believe that! they thought it was really bad!!!

TBH I was thinking exactly the same thing

man that made me feel sick. all that time and effort put into that car just to see it go up in flames. theres a lesson to be learned. always carry a fire extinguisher in your car. all my mates take the piss because i carry two , one under each seat, but why not?
-
I was thinking that too.............. must get a fire extinguisher.

SICK

How about a group buy on fire extinguisers then!

That is a p1sser !   I guess fire extinguisher sales across the forum will be going up now that's for sure. A couple of things I dont get on that video though, firstly they seemed to have a fire extinguisher and didn't use it or it was empty, which would be pointless anyway and why did they leave the doors and bonnet open ? Surely if they had closed them and not let as much Oxygen to the flames then although it would never have stopped at least it could have hindered the fires development until the fire service arrived, or am I just being picky.  :undecided:
-
Bollix to a fire extinguisher, I'm walking.....
-
Sorry but i have no sympathy for them at all.
1) The down pipe has caught fire. Humm obvious answer, open the bonnet fire up the camera and stand there recording it for a while.
2) ooo we have an extinguisher, lets spray the dash board with it because that will put the flames out on the downpipe.
3) humm its a fire, lets open as many doors as possible to give it a nice clean blast of fresh air, that will put it out.
4) ooo look the bonnet is still open, ah well we will leave it, perhaps a gust of air will put it all out.
err how f**king stupid do you have to be?? Yeah not a bad mk4 but at the end of it they were stupid for f**king around with a video camera and letting the fire take a real hold.
Nice one chaps.

0800 887 766 Hello is that the AA ive had a little turbo problem can i still get roadside relay..
-
Slick, I take it are you sitting on the fence about this one then !
-
I've carried a halfords fire extiguisher for the last 2 years. thinking of buying a 'forecourt' sized one just in case lol.
in a WRC car if there's a fire they hit a button on the dash and the engine bay gets covered in powder and they carry on driving if possible.

you know me mate, tell it how it is. Too many people think that they deserve sympathy when they have acted like complete twots.
The above is one such instance.
-
But how did the fire start in the first place??
-
^ a rabbit got sucked into the air intake and got hot.. lol...
anyways.. in some cars (maybe WRC?) dont they put plastic tubes full of water all under the bonnet.. if a fire happens the plastic melts and then the water comes out and eveything gets drenched (with any luck)
-
My MK4 is the same colour. I sat here watching that video thinking if that was mine I'd be crying
-
Least they can save the wheels!
I carry one in the Landy, tho not in the golf. May be swapping things over!
One day last summer saw 3 different vehicles on fire, stopped at the first 2 with the works van extinguisher, but by the third it was empty so drove on! luck of the draw i suppose.
-
since my last motor caught fire i now carry a fire extinguisher, so at least i could have a token effort at putting out a fire.....to just stand there and do nothing would be a nightmare. Scary how fire can take hold so quickly. I went out to walk the dog and then came back 45 mins later to find the fire brigade dousing my car.....electrical fault had set fire to the fuse box and nothing was left of the front end up to the seats (the rear of the car was ok!!), but the ins payout (+£4k!)allowed me to get my current ride and move away from french tat so not all bad and nobodys gonna nick my wheely bin now!!
-
Say it aint so - how apt. The saddest thing he has ever filmed.
-
i just remembered something guys.. opening the bonnet IS a good idea in this situation...
years ago a a neighbors car caught fire.. probably an electrical thing like described above..
the bonnet was blown in the air since there was a big build up under the hood.. so much so that there was a big bang, the bonnet flew in the air and a huge flame shot upwards...
now thinking back.. keeping all doors closed windows down, bonnet closed etc is a BAD idea in a car fire since the pressure is likely to blow them open and pop the glass etc anyways..
looking around online the advice as far as the bonnet goes is to release but not open it..

If thats the way to get smoked lenses, I would rather keep my crystals!
Golf GTI - The original hot-hatch......

I saw a vid like this of a 355 catching fire on one of the Ferrari forums a few weeks back. Immediately went on ebay and bought a fire extinguisher - which now sits in the car, within easy grasp.
If the guy had got the bonnet open and emptied the contents of his fire extinguisher (and his kidneys etc) on car, instead of knobbing around with a camera, then the car probably wouldn't have gone like that.

 I Just lost my dinner!
Absolutley Heartbreaking! At least the insurance company got proof that the fire was not a deliberate act!
But WHY Didn't they empty that fire extinguisher onto the turbo ASAP?
Knobs!
Thank Christ the fuel tank didn't go up too!
But it's a sort of mod, i think, a golf GTFry!

Why did you lose your dinner? Someone steal it? It's certainly not worth losing it over that video.
The reason they didn't empty the fire extinguisher is probably because they were too busy knocking one out at the engine being on fire.
cor look cletus the engine is on fire...
aww shucks jerimiah, what we going to do now....
I know lets stand here with out camera and record it all going up in flames.
Should of climbed in and closed the doors again after them.... f**king tards.
