Hi All
I've searched the threads and noticed that there are a few guys that have fitted the Carbon Fibre rear diffuser but has anyone actually black glossed theirs?
Cheers

am1w had his done in a very dark grey colour and it looked very good.
Unfortunately due to the usual problem of this forum he's vacated over to another site so you won't get a reply from him on here.
Have a search of his threads though.

I think i like Askers grey one that matches the front bumper insert better than that black one.

Colour was from a Honda wasn't it? :undecided:
-
First time iirc a honda dealer painted it. Second time iirc he had it matched after it was damaged.
Oddly i was only discussing Askers rear defuser with another Mk6 owner this morning.
-
that's not a diffuser!
-
does anyone know the paint code for the grey front grill insert?
i would consider painting the rear 'defuser' and mirror caps that colour
-
I spoke with the dealer yesterday and they quoted me £60 for the part but i'm thinking i might just let them have the car for the week i'm in Chicago and they can just clip it off, spray it and clip it back on.
-
how much did they quote to paint it?
-
They havent yet as the bodyshop was closed. They did some bits on my Roc which was far more labour intensive so i'm hoping its be around £100-£125.
-
Got mine painted up gloss black a few months back, but it has already started to peal...
-
I got a quote from a local body shop, they wanted £800 to do the rear diffuser, front splitter and wing mirrors. As you can imagine i told them where to go.
-
£800?
Honestly, I took a rattle can to mine and it's not given me bother to date. (Front Splitter)
I used Hammerite Metallic Black (Hammered Finish) which, when the light reflects off it, matches my lower grill surround pretty well. I removed the splitter for the colour change and, after sanding it down and priming it, gave it about 4 coats of Hammerite followed by two clear coats. To date I have one chip on it that is visible - the hammered finish disguises the rest and the paint has been tough enough to survive most. It's been on the car for almost 14 months now.
Granted most folk wouldn't feel comfortable cracking out a rattle can on a brand new £30k car, but I'd have a think about it if you have some time on your hands. If you take you're time you can get as good a finish as the bodyshop and, if you use thicker paint, it will last better against stone chips.

Glaswegians are rough though
