Title: front top mounts
Post by: km on 12 January 2012, 22:12
may sound stupid, but is there a way of checking them? i seem to have lots of knocking over bumps. there is no play in the steering if that helps.

Jack car off ground, put a bar diagonally under the wheel and jerk it up and down, not the most effective but does show some play if there is some....

If it's lowered it may be the ARB knocking off the chassis or driveshafts. Everything else I would have said has already been mentioned. I'm pretty sure my top mounts are finished too, and they seem to stick up in the engine bay now more than they used to.

yet another common thing to go on the mk4 top bushes as they can knock when worn and also creaking noise when turning lock to lock
