Title: GTi alternator like for like?

I have a MK2 ly stopped 16v GTi but the alternator recently stopped working after being intermittent for months.
Will the alternator from a 8v GTi fit on the 16v engine?...need to get back on the road :'(

Depends on what's fitted to the 8V.  :laugh:

I think you'll find that a proper 16V one is slightly smaller in length (From the bracket to the connectors) over a Proper 8V one...

If i remember correctly, the 8v and 16v are different...sure someone will correct me if i am wrong :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

differant cases..wont interchange

should be able to find a 16v one easy enough , or try a new brush pack for the sake of £10 , it often sorts them out
