Title: Xbox hard drive upgrade
Post by: Jay on 11 January 2012, 19:42
Operation 'installationz' complete in 30 seconds (wife wanted to do it, but told her it was complicated and that I'd best do it)  transferring from the internal 4Gb almost complete. Lovely jubbely.

Almost tempted to start buying these hard drives, take it out the caddy and flog them on as they're cheaper than normal 2.5" drives

I even took a video, pre-empting such a silly question  Just need to edit the audio out of it as my daughter is saying "what's that? what's that? Is it broke? are you fixing it daddy?"

Got a 4Gb xbox bundle with the Kinect last year, bought a 120Gb hard drive in a xbox caddy to slot in. Now I don't have to delete my saved games. and can have all my sh!t installed on it, like Forza content I had to skip out on (not that I played it much, but maybe I would have had I had better content) because I didn't have the capacity  and all the apps with the new xbox dashboard. and the emulation for original xbox games (Sega games pack here I come!)... the list goes on really  Got 4Gb on board, 120Gb showing as a proper hard drive in it now and the 512Mb Cloud storage. Sorted.

Saving / loading and even exiting / entering buildings in Skyrim is faster now

The installation of the hard drive in this EggBox S is easy, turn upside down & slide button, pull up panel, insert drive, put panel back in place.

I'm tempted to do this as 4G's are quite cheap, but I keep reading about the new XBox coming this summer.

Ohhhh!

Just have to make do with my 60G for now.

Thought new xbox is only going to be announced in q1 next year and only hit the market in 2014... or something I read on engaget, plus they will be building a new and better kinect2 for it.

Not entirely sure they're building a Kinect 2, they've just announced that on Feb 1 you can buy kinect for your PC  It'd be a kick in the nuts for all kinect owning customers if they did that.

I've seen a vid of a hacked Kinect sensor (using dev tools) being used to control windows 7, Minority Report stylee.

Was impressive, although a bit buggy.

Yeah that's a bit bodgey dodgy, you can preorder a proper Kinect sensor for Windows on Amazon from Microsoft, to be released 1st Feb
