Title: Gti engine sucking air
Post by: PaddyWagon on 11 January 2012, 13:13
Hey guys just a quick question, my Gti seems to be sucking air quiet viciously through the oil filler cap on idle and also from the dipstick. the idle also seems to very lumpy and irratic also. It seems to tick over fine when the filler cap is on and dipstick shoved in. Is this normal or something i should worry about

try to remove oil cap when car is running, if you can't remove cap turn engine off and you now should be able to remove cap. This is because of a faulty breather valve located at the front of the rocker cover, Replace valve and retest you'll find now that the oil cap can be removed when engine is running. I changed one today on a tt for same issue.
