For all the lads who are running de cats on your petrol cars.  Just curious, how do you get around the MOT every year?

I think most people refit for the mot, with the new regs coming in as well it seems a lot of hassle to me.

Easier in the long run to just fit a sports cat.

Cat's are expensive, swapping over isn't that hard especially since it's once a year.

Still seems like a ballache to me, yes it is only once a year but is it really worth the hassle, modern cats are not that restrictive after all

if you (like i was) were unfortunate enough to own a mk3 8v having a decat is necessary to get any kind of power out of that engine!

I just fitted mine, I did weight it actually  lol. Umm, original de cat was nearly 7kg and original pipe with cat hollowed out was just over 3kg...4kg could make all the difference

Was a real pain in the arse to fit, did on my drive on axel stands. TIP - Wear goggles, I got loads of soot in my eyes

So once a year you have to remove your entire exhaust and put the old one back on, just to switch it back again afterwards?!

Mine has a decat, all it failed on, on the emissions was lamda.
The exhaust was blowing a bit, had a split, so was welded, and then it passed :)
Without a cat!
