Title: XSD vagcom adjust
Post by: mkviken on 10 January 2012, 16:32
has anyone adjusted their electronic diff via VCDS?

you can have it on 0 (standard), 1 (medium) or 2 (strong).

as far as i can find setting 2 is recommended for track use.

oh yes and the golf R and scirocco R both come from the factory in setting 2.

might be worth tinkering with

Wish I'd known this when I had my REVO'd car, it could have cut down on the torquesteer.

I may have a play in the spring anyway, so thanks for the info.

XSD vagcom adjust

Don't you mean XDS?

Update:

I've just read these XDS Settings WOW!!! (http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30395)

ESP, XDS, DSR, ASR, Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control Settings Vag-Com (http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25039)

It appears you can switch the ESP off.

I can switch mine off as I have a 2012MY car. Don't need VCDS to deactivate it.

Not tried it yet but will definately activate stage 2 diff setting as soon as someone with VCDS is willing! Hint hint

Read a few scirocco sites giving it great reviews. Helps car stop washing wide on the gas. Brake pads won't thank you for it though as the 'diff' will be working overtime!

Just let me know when I can pick the undertray up. Thanks for sorting it for me.

to change the settings via VCDS

go to adaptations> channel 36 > and then set a value from 0 to 2. This adjusts the sensitivity.
In 0 rarely intervenes.
In 1 its weak.
In 2 it's strong.

I'm going to try 2 which is used on the R20 and rocco R

think this is worth trying if you have a remap especially.

Yes I can switch mine off without VCDS but the flashing light is annoying.

No it's different to what I have. I have 2 stage ASR/ESP activation.

If I hold the button down for 3 seconds it deactivates the ESP so you can slide it etc but if it detects it is in an 'extreme' situation and you brake ESP is immediately reactivated and it will try and correct the car so it's a bit of a safety net.

Anyway. Tonight I activated stage 2 on the diff and the car does turn tighter and feels more agile and doesn't push on anywhere near as much. Round tight turns on hard throttle it seems to holds a line much better even though it was very slippery tonight while driving home.

I think in the dry it will definately make the car turn better and get the gas on earlier.

No rush for it mate

Im going to give the underbody a good clean before I fit it anyway.

Bought an extendable hose thing with a pivot head ideal for getting under the car to get the salt off etc.

Are you going to try the XDS setting Geoff?

You can also adjust how much brake assist you get so you can make the pedal more sensitive.

Hmmm, wonder what XDS on the Polo GTI is set at?

I may try it. Need the irritating throttle pedal looked at first as everytime i take my foot off the throttle it makes a click noise. They all do this but normally you don't hear it due to distance away from it and background noise but mines now louder and i hear it over the radio & heater, it was driving me nuts in stop start traffic the other day to the point ive been using the other car since!
Im sure the dealer will say there all like that even though its only been like this for a month

Could you just stick some felt tape on the 2 serfaces that are touching?

It sounds like the microswitch of the potentiometer thats making the noise.
You will have to send me a link to your supplier of felt tape i may as well do the door panels when i have them off to fit the door lights.

I just got a roll on eBay for about £6 or so

I need to do my doors too as there is a slight rattle from around the window switch I think.

R doesnt have XDS. XDS is an electronic system added to ESP/ABS module. On R 4WD takes care of that.
