Title: Possible to adjust RVC image?
Post by: Belix on 10 January 2012, 15:59
Hi folks
just finished RVC cam retrofit (thanks to help from here), just got fuse wire to sort out.
Thing I noticed is that the yellow "guide" image is not well centered. if I use it to centre the car in a parking bay, the car ends up being to far to the left, so I need to somehow shift the guide over to the left a bit.
Is this possible somehow, with VCDS perhaps?

Pictures on page 2, ended up having the camera replced under warranty which sorted it, the dealer contacted VW who said it is not possible to adjust it, theyhave been wrong before though!

Hmm, thanks for feedback, don't think VW going to do any replacing on a retrofitted unit. sigh!

If it's any consolation, they only replaced the actual camera not the badge or motor so may not be too expensive??

Why dont you just learn how to park? Its really not very hard..

That's very helpful... I'm sure that's why he spent £500ish retrofitting a camera.

I was merely stating that there may have been the possibility that he had not been given the correct training in the run up to the acquisition of a UK driving licence, and there were methods that avoided a £500 pound payment to fill these gaps.

The parallel parking instructions above may help. Its also important to note that the shiney thing that is stuck to your windscreen (this is called a 'rear view mirror') and both shiney bits on either side of the car (these are 'wing mirrors') are all fully adjustable, these will also come in handy when reversing. To quote lock stock 'When reversing, things tend to come at you from behind', I feel you should be wary of this.

I'm a wild child, I drive without a UK driver's license. I do have a South African drivers license, but seeing as you can buy one for a couple bucks, I'm not sure it counts for too much.

Main reason for installing was a) technical challenge of doing the install and b) it's useful for getting out of the tandem parking bays we have at work where one car parks behind the other, and you either need to do some back and forths to move the car sideways, or ask whichever sod parked you in to move.

Anyway, for parallel parking, park assist would be far more useful.

Ha ha, you are let off needing a camera then
