Well picked this up today from a new local grill specialist. Slatted grill has a crack in so thourt i would try somthing else lol. what peoples thoughts on this. I will be sprayin the bit that sits on the bumper same as my car. Will also spray the honeycomb matt black to match the lower grils I just cant decide if its to bulky or not ? :undecided: All comments welcome as usual

Have you got a full car picture from a little further away?
-

-

-
lol i dont think i like the way the front bit sits on top of the bumper lol
-
once sprayed same colour as car wont stand out as much
get some pics further away lol
-
lol i put slatted grill back on now lol
-

-
decided it looks too bulky lol
-
i think it looks pretty good, and if it was smoothed into the top of the bumper could look
-
i like it!
-
how would i smooth it in. Remember i have a genuine R32 fron bumper and dont want to be modifying that lol

hmm yeah suppose you would proberbly end up ruening the bumper by plastic welding ect.
-
Was gonna say i wasnt keen. But I do like the way it matches the bottom grills. Does seem to sit back quite far.
-
I think that the only way it would work, would be to smooth it into the bumper. That way you would get rid off the awful line it produces! With what you said about not wanting to ruin your genuine bumper, go back to what you had originally!
-
Yep sveed thats what am gunna do i think. love the honeycomb look but hate the way it sits over front of bumper lol Maybe try make a honeycob grill with debaged grill or sumthing lol * gets thinking *
-
It's tony, Sveed is just a username  Didn't Mowlamb go down that route of trying to the honeycomb badged grill?
-
Looks mean mate. I like it
-
yeh think he did lol just have to come to fact that there is NO honeycomb grill for the mk4
-
Im unsure of this. On one hand it looks quite clean, on the other hand theres maybe too much honeycomb :undecided:
-
I like it much better
-
dave_iow has this grill on his golf
im thinking of getting one but ill wait,as it only looks good with an r32 front bumper as well witch i dont have
-
Don't like how far out it sits.. but other wise yeh
-
needs a vw badge in the centre. too much honeycomb otherwise.
i wouldnt bother at all trying to smooth it in, i reckon the bottom sits fine
-
Got it from a local auto part shop up here . Thourt of trimming the front lip but unsure :undecided:

That I did. All I need to do is get my lazy ass to VW and get the R32 centre grill to finish it off. Fell out of love with my car but getting the bug back slightly now so this is on my to do list soon. Once done I'll get the pics up.
-
Johnny, i have exactly this same grill, the same colour as yours, with your old bumper, with the bottom bit sprayed indigo blue lol!
Ill get a pic for you tomorrow!
-
You get that pic Dave ?

Wherd my pic go
-
Johnny, sorry buddy, was going to while doing sump, but got the fcuker off and completely forgot dude.
Tomorrow it will be posted!

+1

That red one is a DIY one. It's the car that inspired me to make mine. All I need to complete mine is the R32 grill for the honeycomb bit. SHould get it this weekend or next.

some bloke on R32 about 315 years ago made it out of the oem grill.

I'm not keen on using filler to attach the honeycomb. I'm thinking of using little cable ties to hopefully hold it in place.

That grill is top drawer!!
-
R32 centre grill has been posted and should be here 2moro so I will eventually be able to finish mine lol
-
How are you gunna make it fit into corners of the bumper I mean the curved bit
-
Not sure yet. Was always gunna work that out plus how to attach it once I got the grill. I got a dremel cutter so I'm thinking I can just cut it to shape.
-
I want a badgeless honeycomb grill lol
-
I'll see how this one turns out then I might look into making more. Need to see if it would be worth my while to do so.
-
Wonder what this would be like [url] http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLASTIC-GRILLE-MESH-HONEYCOMB-EFFECT-GRILL-VOLKSWAGEN-VW-GOLF-POLO-ETC-NEW-/350523295253?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519cd10615[url]

Could be ok. Would cut costs on making them. I'll use the dimensions of the honeycomb it states and see how it matches up with the genuine r32 one I get. Then need a source of cheap grills lol. Local scrappy could be a possibility.
-
Lol yeh could just cable tie it to a normal grill or badgeless lol
