Title: Mk4 1.8t aum need a remap! Look-->
Post by: connn12 on 07 January 2012, 19:21
Hi all had my 1.8t a little while now I was going to get it remapped last month but then gearbox went , but been sorted 2 day so that's all good bassicly when I was looking i found a place near me who do revo flash maps and heard good talk about r-tech , I'm northamptonshire , where is best and how far is r-tech ??

Also so far just ordered a forge 007p dump valve
I have an open air filter on it
Just bought standard air box and pipercross panel filter
But do I keep open air filter put air box or buy force feed induction ???? Best results ??

Or any other bits that make a good difference before I remap it

Also I had boost pressure valve mechanical fault but gonna put new n75 valve on on Monday as causes are dump valve , n75 valve and few other bits but can only help hey !

Add ya input !!!! Cheers

Stick with standard airbox and panel filter, don't bother changing the N75 unless yours is faulty. Other than a 007p you need nothing else.

R-Tech should be fairly local to you, however only you can see how far away they are....try google maps?

They offer their own maps as well as Revo maps.

I'm just gave it a full service and did gearbox the management light has not come back on yet but when it does it says boost pressure valve mechanical fault , it kinda chooses when it goes if you get me sometimes the power not there then suddenly it is but I don't mean turbo boost as it seems to feel like its not boosting correct as its like it kicks in when ever it wants not a set peak  , also when I bought it I put it on rolling road and it got 112.2 bhp at the wheels which I thought was pants to be honest :/ don't know what they should be at the wheels but I thought more than that and about these tips , pipes etc put up some links mate :D cheers

The parts in my car I'll look 2mora.    And these worth gettin ye suppose eliminates a lot of potential leaks ?? I am gonna get r - tech to map it just wanted to do little bits first rather than after its mapped , fort maybe de- cat but dunno :/ , got a standard air box and pipercross panel soloing to fit that I'm gonna smooth the air box Monday I think might make slightest difference ? What else you think worth getting mate also what's yours like on fuel when cruising ? I fitted cruise control to mine that helped a lot but I think it still drinks it dunno if the open air filter helps either tbh!

i went to r-tech to find pipes leaking i replaced mine with the same as in the links

mines been garaged since august 2011 so kinda forgot what the fuels like on cruising

mine was mapped with a pipercross induction kit alot of people are against them due to heatsoak etc i ran a cold air feed to mine with no problems

Ye well it could maybe explain why it's under powering more than likely leakin to be honest and ye I was gonna get a new induction kit but everyone said get standard air box and smooth it so I thought why not , I think people saying with

Forge 007p dv
Panel filter
New pipes

R-tech can get around 200 approx which I don't think is bad and hopefully with smooth out my power range and give it that extra little go

Rtech will smoke test for you if they think youve got a boost leak.

Post the part number for your N75, i had to get a new one a while back and the part number has been updated.

Hi all ye I had a little accident in the car all sorted now and ye I thought you could have boost leaks but for the hassles I think the new pipes would be worth gettin I've put the new n75 valve on now and 007p just gotta put standard air box on shall I bother trying to smooth it ??? Will it make much difference got the pipercross filter now also to slap in once box is on , or is it worth smoothing air box and instead of putting the standard plastic intake on making a bigger hole on air box and running a cold air feed to the airbox ? As I like the dump valve noise and surely putting standard intake on will get rid of noise :/ cheers all

Definately get a cold air feed to the airbox.....3" is nice size.

R-tech is the way forward! without a doubt.  Its all about the graph and not peak powers. [;)]

Hi buddy ye i am deffo going to use r-tech just wanna do everything to car first so will be running good im thinking weather to get a de-cat but not sure ever had one ? worth buying ? and also was told should buy all new boost hoses to ensure no leaks i had a dyno befor eand was 112 at wheels since then put new plugs new forge 007 or 008p dump valve will check new n75 valve .

regarding air intake system so you suggest standard air box with my piper cross panel filter and instead of stock plastic intake cut circle hole and put 3" intake down to near side grille ? cheers mate

Yes for the air intake.

Downpipe is needed for good stage 2 custom results...it allows gases to get away quicker, allowing a quicker spool and a bit more torque.

Id go for:

Downpipe
Forge actuator (yellow spring)
007p (yellow spring)
pipercross in smoothed airbox with 3" cold air feed
Silicone TIP
Leak free boost pipe
Check your PCV system
and ensure your maf and N75 are healthy.
Oh and a good service with good oils and plugs, and a fuel filter.

Could push boat and go for a intank whalbro but that depends how weak your current pump is,

Hi buddy I rang r-tech today and spoke to someone as its currently only putting out 112bhp at the wheels i know stock is 150 but that's at flywheel ye so on average you lose around 33% I was told meaning ud loose 45hp which is about right however I personally think that's a lot to loose to much as for the parts u have mentioned where you say best to buy ?just want it to move a bit don't want to over do it n kill the turbo though , and how hard it to change an actuator on one ? And I recently changed n75 valve and maf sensor so should both be good as new , what's PVC mate ? When I bought it on about 106k did full service on 108 now so service kit still good on it cheers for your help mate
