mine is hanging off gearbox end. bought the car with a carbon canister delete, is it to do with that?

It's suppose to be connected to the oem air box

you on about the pipe that leads to the small filter? that'll be your pcv pipewrork, dont disconnect it unless you want oil vapour coverin your clean engine. which youll probably get with that filter, get a catch can to keep all the sludge away

^^^^ what he said! but by looking at the turbo intake pipe on yours i cant seem to figure whats going on from the pic..
looks like a modified TIP of some sort? in that case there seems to have no place for the hockey puck valve.

dont use the puck valve if you fit a catch can, just a 19mm hose onto anywhere you can get it on the tip, or that little filter to vent to atmosphere, seeing as the oil vapour will be collected

fairly sure it is for the secondary air pump that pipe & filter

looks like the pipework to/from the SAP to me.
Therefore dont rip it out unless you are deleting the SAP at the same time.
