Title: ed35 or just a Gti...
Post by: mojo555 on 06 January 2012, 18:11
Bit of a dilema...i currently got an A4 avant black edition 140bhp diesel in white, swapped a 10 plate s3 sportback in the hunt for saving a few pennies, i only do around 9000 miles a year at most so although not a massive saving it is still nice only paying half the fuel costs approx of the S3. Been looking at trying to do a deal on a new gti 35 but just working out to expensive so what are peoples thoughts on the gti and 35 i would def want xenon's so even with discounts i wont be far away from 35 prices.
Just after peoples thoughts really as the mrs is fed up of new car talk!!!!

ED35 4 me

hmm thats what me thinks, i can get a 35 5 door for around 26.3k and with xenons and stuff the gti at 23.8k (i think) it comes out not too far off...

If your looking at buying new you'd be daft not to go for a 35 imo, especially if you want xenons as well. Whats up with the A4? It can't be that old if it's a black edition?

Not old at all, 11 plate so about 9 months or so, tbh i just get itchy feet and swap normally around this time, the right thing to do is keep what i have untill at least later this year. The a4 looks real smart and isn't as slow as the 140bhp would suggest once on the move also great spec.

keep telling myself stop going on tinternet and looking at sites like this!!!

I'm going to be totally predictable and say an Edition 35, purely because of the std spec.

This is probably going to sound stupid, but if you have looked at the deals and feel that it is too expensive, then why  change?

Why not retro fit xenons to your A4, and drive around in that until you can actually afford the car you really want?

Why change ever...see what you mean but could afford just dont really want to spend £440+ a month  an a car!!! thats a lot of money, the A4 has xenons, aslo has bang & olfsun stereo, leather 19" wheels heated seats etc etc more spec than you could want  really, big thing is it isn't an S3 or gti!!!

£440pm is waaaay too much to spend on a golf imo. Why not look at a used one and get finance yourself through something like a bank

People think its hassel, but its simply just a phone call.   :nerd:

I only paid £230pm for my 5dr gti

.. In fact I only paid £280pm for my R32

I would defo go back to the R32 if I werent doing so many miles... but thats about to change so watch this space

This is usually the case, i contract hire my  van and tax is included for the term, but on that website you have a drop down bar for the tax...

The R32 is tempting the only thing that puts me off is the tax cost and the interior will feel old compared to the audis and mk6 golfs!!!

I had the same choice, Edition 35 or GTI, the GTI was coming up a bit cheaper with the specs I wanted which included xenons, but the main things that sold it for me were Monza shadows, cheaper insurance on GTI (mostly due to my age) and the newer engine and dare I say it, better MPG - coming from a diesel, every little helps! The GTI should hopefully arrive in March.
