Lots of great upgrades to the spec, but £4800!

How is it better than the Canon 1D-X?
Doesn't seem to be 'a bit better than the Canon' as Nikon-heads tend to tout Nikon cameras.

^ is a good comparison of the two cameras which basically suggests that these cameras are for a very neiche market that need very specific functions which us meer mortals would never use so seems kinda pointless for the general public to compare them..

^ Doesn't really compare them in a full review kinda way. It's just saying that Nikon has released it's competitor to the Canon 1DX within a few weeks, and that they are high end cameras.
Yeah for most people those cameras are way to expensive; even after the £4-5k on the camera body, you've still got to invest thousands in good lenses to get the most out of it.
For most people, the 5D MkII and 7D are really good and at that level the Nikon's don't compete for video.
Even George Lucas and Quentin Tarrantino were impressed with the quality from the Canon 5D MkII and 7D (see Philip Bloom's blog (http://philipbloom.net/2011/12/11/exactly-2-years-ago-my-favourite-ever-blog-post-and-the-my-most-memorable-job-ever-going-to-skywalker-ranch-to-show-them-how-great-the-5dmkii-was/)
Oh and I just found some demo videos shot on the new D4:

Each camera with have it's plus points that'll be specific for a certain group of photographers needs. Exclusion of f/8 autofocus on the 1d-x is no good for people using f/4 lenses and a 2x teleconverter for example.

Each to their own really.
If you're a Nikon user, you'll want a D4, if you're Canon togger you'll want the 1DX.
I'm a Sony user, so my ideal high end camera would be the Alpha 77, but pricewise that's nowhere near the Nikon D4.
A professional friend of mine has ordered a D4, so I'll see if I can get my hands on it to try sometime.

£4k for a camera body is cheap compared to Leica s2! Now that is one sexy camera
