Yh iv cleaned up and put some bosch super 4s in. Gna av look again on monday see if oils gathers up again. I bricked it when saw that lol

-
Just asking cos i just got a set from halfords. got em trade tho
-
i put a thread up about this a couple of months ago maybe..... I changed my rocker cover gasket(s) but havent rechecked any of the plugs yet to see if thats all it was. So really, of little help to you. It's a very easy job to do though.
-
Is the actual electrode oily and dirty? If not it's probably just a cam cover gasket or someone has been kack handed when filling up with oil.
-
The threads on the plug dont seem to be covered in oil so i doubt it was due to it been loose, looks more likely to be the rocker gasket but thats not too bad to do.
-
Yep new gasket wont be much from dealers nav stick a new one on for piece of mind

yh is it hard to change?? any one got a how to.. the oil was changed in the morning too so i could have been a bit handy with the oil cus the oil on the plug was fresh :lipsrsealed:
will i be able to see if rocker is leaking without taking anything off.. yh ll defo go dealers and get that then i was excpecting you to say its like 117 quid knowing vw stealers
-
how much did a set super 4's cost you jonny?
-
You won't see it as there's a Seperate gasket for the spark plug holes.
-
ohhh k.. better of just changing it if 17 quid part then causing 700 damage :lipsrsealed:
-

our golf has a lights issue, firstly the reversing lights went, then brake lights started staying on all the time even with the engine switched off, plus the passenger rear back light had a loose connection.and various bulbs have been changed.
so if u find the reason for your lights issue please let me know.

I havent read more than the 1st page, but if it was me i would be thinking loose plug and rocker cover gasket.
Especially if all pulls fine with no smoke etc? just my opinion, may be wrong, and make have written this way too late.
-
what i think it is, someone in the past filling the oil up has slipped and its poured down, not been cleaned and gunked up.

No mate cant be that as oil was fresh
Its narrowed down to rocker gasket. Not an expensve part change thankfully so will be doing that and hopefully that should solve it

This. Mine was the same. If your still worried do a compression test on each cylinders.
Mine had no smoke, ran perfectly happily (bit rich due to a boost leak I can't find, and I suspect the PCV is clogged a bit) Which suggests nothing catastrophic is wrong. If a ring had gone you'd know about it.
-
mine was the same, have a look through my project thread
-
So what you sayng chris and wazzer wont need change gasket
