Title: 1.8 8v Digi 1991 lost power
Post by: violentportrait on 04 January 2012, 18:26
Recently the accelerator has been sticking down and i've been tapping on the pedal to release it I doubt this has anything to do with it, but now my car goes like my old 1.6 driver.

There's no misfiring and the engine runs and revs as it's always done.

Anyone had this kind of problem ?

It has been known for car mats to get tucked/folded under the accelerator pedal, and cause a dramatic change in output.

In that case it might be an idea to get an assistant to press the pedal to the floor while you watch whether the throttle opens fully.
Maybe the reason the cable/pedal is sticking is that some strands of the cable are busted, and in its weakened state it has stretched?

It revs all the way into the redline as fast as it always has though  :undecided:
