Does anybody know if there is such a thing as an under car engine cover for the mk2? I hope you know what i mean. A plastic cover to stop any road dirt splashing up into the engine bay.
-
would you be able to use a sump gaurd thingy???
-
I want a full cover though to keep my bay clean and shiney.
-
yes there was it was fitted to the golf country the part number is 193 018 901 but i doubt you can get one froim anywhere seeing as the country is relatively rare
-
i think swg motorsport do one, called an engine undertray. no pics of it though.
-
Thanks joe. SWG do one, not cheap though!
-
I am going to make one over summer, out of sheet metal i think.
Protect the sump and downpipe from low objects in the street once my car gets it slam sorted out.
Will give progress reports as and when it happens.

Nice one. I might see if i can make one out of the 1 that i tore of my dads passat when if rallied it across a field when i went paintballing. He didnt notice and i hid the cover behind the coal bin in the garage.
-
^^lol!
-
diesel golfs came with one - they are actually used as sound deadening on the diesels. i have one lying in my tralier at home. basically it covers all the underside of the engine bay apart from the sump itself. ill get you a pic of it at lunch
-
Are you keeping this or would you be willing to sell it to me?
-
wouldnt be worth posting as its big, so would cost n arm & a leg to post!!
just go down a scrappy and rip one off a diesel golf! i only paid £10 for mine!
-
ok will do
-
can you get a pic of it gambit? see if its woorth hunting around for!
-
ooh i know where there is a diesel gofl near me complete with everything...........in a scrappy guess wat im gonna do whilst looking for dinx slam panel?
-
Read about this on another forum, the under off a diesel from the stealers is close to £200 :(
Gambit, got yourself a bargain :)
-
bit manky as i havent been bothered to clean it up!! they will also make your car run slightly warmer as it restricts the airflow from below when the car is moving!!

hey that looks sweet as for keeping sh!te out!!! think i know of one in a scrappy as well, i assume they'd be on jettas too?
-
I've never seen one of those before!
-
Thats exactly the sort of thing im after! Cheers gambit
-
@gtijoe - id assume they'd be on diesel jetta also
-
was having a think last night, and it occured to me that anybody with a true big bumper wont be able to use that under engine cover as you are missing the front lower panel that it attaches to! back to the drawing board!
-
ahh good point, you could get one froma scrap yard while your at it i suppose but then if you've got fogs it wont fit anyway! also thinking back to the diesel jetta i've seen i don't remember seeing one as i looked in the engine bay. it must be visible from the top eh?
* edit, but it was a big bumper model so that might be why?!?!?!?!!?!?
-
Doh. Im sure something could be bodged up though.
-
where theres a will theres a way and all that! still think its gonna be a nightmare to find one though. i've only ever seen a few diesel golfs in scrappy's and never noticed this under tray?!
-
i see an ebay auction v.soon
